Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the resort course? The resort course lasts one full day.
Do I need a wet suit? Not really, but if you have one and it's made from thin fabric, bring it along. During the winter months in Turks & Caicos and Nassau, it is a good idea to wear your suit.
How many dives can I do per day? You are allowed two dives per day (except on Sundays) if you are certified. For non-certified persons, you are allowed one dive only per day.
Do you have night diving? Yes, at some properties, soon to be extended to all.
Can we dive on our own? No, all dives are guided unless otherwise agreed.
Do you take dive groups? If we are given advance warning, this can be facilitated.
Could these groups go on night dives? Yes, subject to advance discussions
What are the requirements to do a resort course? A swim evaluation and a medical questionnaire which must be answered satisfactorily and reflect good health.
Can we get certified at Sandals? Yes, at an extra cost.
What diving organizations are represented at Sandals? Mainly P.A.D.I and N.A.U.I. All dive cards from agencies recognized by DEMA are accepted.
What is the deepest we can go? Our depths vary from hotel to hotel between 60 to 90 feet.
What brand of equipment do you use? B.C.D. - Cressi SUB Regulators - Cressi SUB Fins - Cressi SUB Compressor - Mako
Up to what time before flying are we allowed to dive? You are not allowed to dive on the same day you fly.
Can my non-diving partner come on the boat? Yes, but it is subject to space availability.
Can my partner snorkel while I dive off the dive boat? No, a boat is provided exclusively for snorkeling.
If a person does the necessary classes to dive in their state except for the open water dive, can we certify them for the open water dive at Sandals? Yes, but is not part of the all-inclusive package. Speak to the dive instructor upon arrival.
Certifications available: Open Water, Advance Rescue, Medic First Aid, Varied Specialties, Divemaster, Instructor. These certifications are available at an extra cost, approximately between $350 to $400.
Dive boat at Beaches Turquoise: All dives are guided dives unless previous arrangements have been made with the divemaster at the property.
Hyperbaric Chambers
Jamaica: The nearest hyperbaric chamber is located in Discovery Bay 60 minutes from Montego Bay, 30 minutes from Ocho Rios and 2 hours and 10 minutes from Negril. Helicopter flights are available in cases of emergencies.
Turks & Caicos: The hyperbaric chamber is 4 miles away by car, 10 minutes.
